Love is a good thing. It is trust, honesty, acceptance, respect, compassion and many other things. It is a curious blend of all those qualities that make life a joyous thing. It comes in so many forms that there is no limit to the number of loved ones you can include in your life except those you set for yourself. True love is warm and eternal, offering comfort in times of sadness or need. I've heard a saying that the only friends that matter are the ones you can call at 4:00 AM and I believe that is true. Anyone who doesn't love you will hang up on you if you call at that hour. This doesn't mean that you should call everyone you know in the middle of the night to see if they love you or not, especially if you happen to know me.

Love also opens us up to the greatest pain. When caring so much for another person, it is easy to be hurt by any thoughtless thing they say or do. That vulnerability is a scary thing but without it, there is not the love. It always seems that the more you love someone, the more easily you are hurt by them. Of course that works both ways, which is why we are always hurting the people we love. Unfortunately there is no known remedy for this, except to be careful of the feelings of those you care about.

If you disagree with me, write to me with your opinion and I will post it on this page.
